Since leaving Swansea I’ve been promising friends I would start a blog about my comings and goings at Newbold. Jen Clowes reccomended WordPress so here I am. Let’s see how long it takes me to get my head around this format.

That’s a nice photo of the front of Newbold
, other than the grass having been cut it’s as I remember 5 years back
If possible can you post a pic of the rear gardens please, from beside the orchard and glass house at the back along the green path towards the backgate.
I’d also be interested to see how the sculpture beside the lower orchard and glass house turned out
Happy memories

Do you live in the attic of Newbold House where the meditation room used to be?
I was a short-term member there in 1991 and then become a full-time member and lived there almost 2 years (with Thomas Warrior and Kajedo Wanderer, who I know are still involved with Findhorn).
I lived in what were once the servants quarters, long long ago. 2nd room on the right. I only remember the attic being our meditation room and walking meditation space. A lovely lovely space where I spent my first week-long silent meditation retreat (at age 20). I also remember bats going into the attic – very exciting.
My time at Findhorn and at Newbold House was amazing and important for my spiritual and personal growth. I now live in a Buddhist community that I love very much – it’s not a monastery, it’s a retreat center so it has deep spiritual support but is also a lot of fun and full of humanness.
Best wishes,

I never quite made it to living in the attic. I think one of the biggest lessons I had at Newbold was in learning to not mind if things turn out differently from how I would ask.
I stayed in the second room on the right, too! I liked it
